Streets

It is the goal of the City of DeSoto to provide for the safe and efficient movement of traffic throughout the city, through the proper maintenance of the city’s roadway and drainage infrastructures.

The City of DeSoto Street Department currently maintains 484 lane miles of paved roadways. A lane mile of roadway is 12 feet wide.

Of the 484 lane miles:

  • 315 lane miles are concrete streets
  • 169 lane miles are asphalt streets
Maintenance includes all general repairs needed to maintain the riding surface of the city streets such as:

  • Pot Hole Repair
  • Utility Cut repair
  • Crack Sealing
  • Curb Repairs

Belt Line Road is a state highway and is maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDot).
