Anyone who lives or works in DeSoto. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and pass a background screening prior to acceptance into the academy.

Anyone who lives or works in DeSoto. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and pass a background screening prior to acceptance into the academy.

How much does it cost?
There is absolutely NO CHARGE to attend the Academy!
3.
What happens after the Academy is over?
Graduates are invited to join the DeSoto Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association and continue their education and association with the police department. Those completing the Academy are also eligible to join the Citizens On Patrol (COP) group and become "extra eyes and ears" for the police.
4.
Will I be a police officer after I graduate?
No. The Citizen Police Academy will not certify you to become a police officer, nor will it provide you with a concealed handgun license.
