Mayors and City Council members across America know their communities’ success depends on the health and well-being of children, youth, and families. Working with colleagues in local government, leaders can strengthen municipal policies, support effective programs, and bring diverse partners to the table in order to make things happen.
In September, approximately 80 DeSoto youth completed the survey questionnaire administered at the DeSoto High School College Fair to explore how they feel about the community’s attitudes toward engaging youth and the challenges that youth face. In November and January youth focus groups were held with teens from various segments of the community. Information gathered from the Teen Focus Groups, and the Stakeholders Steering Committee sessions are being fine-tuned to develop a youth needs assessment survey to be administered to a larger audience of DeSoto teens in the next phase of the development process.
The survey is ready for distribution to DeSoto’s youth. We ask that you send to your students, program participants, youth groups or any organizations that serve youth ages 9-19. The survey will be open until June 26th.
Ages 9-19 must take this survey.

You can win 1 of 6 gift cards worth $50 dollars each by filling out a youth needs questionnaire. Your help is key to finding out what should the City of DeSoto do to meet your needs. This is your chance to tell us which youth programs are important to you and to enter the raffle for one of the $50 dollars gift card.
