[ARCHIVED] Movie Screening - A Soldier Home

Produced, Directed and Edited by Jay Nuzum

22 U.S. veterans take their own lives every day; that’s about 1 every hour.

A SOLDIER HOME is an award-winning documentary following a Marine back from the war and his struggles with simple everyday things like finding a job, finding love, but looking at the world through lenses that have been smudged by the experience of war.

My friend Zach served in Iraq and saw a lot of things that most of us don’t experience. I wanted to tell the story of his life as truthfully and compassionately as possible, and also tell the story of his inner life, and maybe give audiences a glimpse into those darker places, and foster awareness about PTSD and some of the challenges facing soldiers every day.

Through interviews with his family and friends and glimpses of his life after being deployed oversees, we follow Zach through a tunnel that eventually leads to the light, that he is navigating, one step at a time.
