Online Bid Service
DeSoto is a member of
DemandStar.com, a government purchasing network on the internet. This system brings together government agencies and vendors and enables the City of DeSoto to improve service by providing automatic bid notification and instant access to bid information via the Web or fax-on-demand.
DeSoto has been using the DemandStar service to post bids since April, 2001. Vendors interested in doing business with the City of DeSoto, may register with DemandStar and be notified by e-mail when DeSoto or other cities post bids of interest.

Benefits
Membership in the DemandStar network offers vendors a number of important benefits:
- Automatic, immediate notification of Invitations to Bid and RFPs issued by the City of DeSoto and any other governmental agency in Dallas County that participates in the DemandStar network.
- As other Dallas County agencies come on line, registered members will receive automatic notification of these bid opportunities as well.
- Members are notified only of opportunities relevant to their businesses.
- Members are able to download bid documents from the Internet at no additional charge.
- Members may receive notification by e-mail or fax.
- The City of DeSoto purchasing information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the website and through the fax-on-demand system.
Registering
Vendors may register online with DemandStar.com, or by requesting a faxed registration form by calling 800.711.1712. The application asks for general information about the firm and lists the specific commodities and services the firm wishes to sell.
Fees
DemandStar has an annual membership fee for Dallas county or for the entire State of Texas, or for the Dallas Metro area. A vendor already registered with DemandStar for any Dallas County agencies need not register again.
Note
Vendors are not obligated to join DemandStar to do business with DeSoto. However, the City of DeSoto does not send automatic notification of bid opportunities. Vendors who choose not to register with DemandStar.com will not receive automatic notification of bid opportunities by e-mail and will not have the ability to download bid packets.
Legal bid notices are published in the newspaper, but non-member vendors will have to contact DemandStar, where bid packets are available for a small fee.
