Building Inspection Permit Process
Permit Process / Plan Review 

• To request an inspection please call our 24-hour inspection request line at 972.230.9620.
• Requests must be in by 8 a.m. for same day inspection.

Residential (New and Remodel) 

• Completed building permit application.
• Three sets of:
  • Architectural/engineered building construction plans.
  • Site plan. 
  • Landscaping plan.
  • Engineered foundation plans.
• Energy compliance plans on new construction and some remodels.
• Energy compliance plans, as required by the International Residential Code and the International Energy Conservation Code.
• Turnaround time: Five (5) working days.

Commercial (New) 

• Completed building permit application.
• Four sets of:
  • Building construction plans.
  • Site plan.
  • Landscaping plan.
  • Civil plans.
  • Energy compliance plans, per architect/engineer design.
• Energy compliance plans as required by the International Energy Conservation Code.
• Turnaround time: Ten (10) working days.

 
Commercial (Remodel/Addition) 

• Completed building permit application.
• Four sets of:
  • Building construction plans.
  • Site plan.
  • Landscaping plan.
  • Engineered foundation plans.
  • Energy compliance plans.
• Energy compliance plans as required by the International Energy Conservation Code.
• Turnaround time: Ten (10) working days.

Swimming Pool, Spa or Hot Tub

• Completed building permit application.
• Two sets of:
  • Building construction plans.
  • Site plan, with franchise utility company release(s).
• Location of required fence.
• Turnaround time: Five (5) working days

Signs, Fences, Accessory Buildings, Carports, Misc. 

• Completed building permit application.
• Two sets of:
  • Building construction plans.
  • Site plan.
• Turnaround time: Five (5) working days.

Contractor Permits (Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC)

• Completed building permit application.
• Two sets of plans per discipline, specific to work to be performed.
• Turnaround time: One (1) working day.
