How do I bond/bail someone out of jail?
All bonds for class C misdemeanor charges (like traffic tickets) can be posted at the jail, all other charges must be posted at the county jail. We accept cash or credit cards only, no money orders. To get someone out of jail, the whole fine must be paid, or in some circumstances, the judge will allow a payment plan to be set up and release the individual. You may also go through a bond agency.

How do I bring money to someone in jail?
The jail does not accept money for anyone in jail. We do offer pre-paid calling cards you may purchase for an individual in the jail, that they may use to call you.

How do I send mail to someone in jail?
Individuals at the jail may not receive mail.

How do I locate a bail bondsman?
Employees are prohibited from recommending the services of a particular bondsman. The best place to look for those services is in the telephone book.

How do I speak to the Chief of Police?
You may call during business hours to schedule an appointment (469.658.3002); however, most issues can be handled promptly by the on-duty supervisor

How do I compliment an officer?
You may call the Office of the Chief of Police (469.658.3002) or submit a letter addressed to the Chief and mail it to 714 E. Beltline Road, DeSoto, Texas 75115.

How do I start a Crime Watch in my area?
First, contact your neighbors to “spark” an interest, and then contact one of the Crime Prevention Officers to set up an informational meeting for your area. Call 469.658.3000 for more information.

Contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 469.658.3000.

How do I reserve an animal trap?

How do I obtain an alarm permit?
All homes and businesses that have an alarm system installed are required to have a permit from the city, even if the system is not monitored.
Alarm permits can be obtained and paid for at DeSoto City Hall located at 211 E. Pleasant Run. The annual fee for a residential alarm is $25. Commercial alarms are $50.
