    From the shores of England to the United States, follow the history of etiquette, its influence, and its impact on black culture and social uplift. This lecture includes information on black aristocracy, black etiquette pioneers, and more. This event also includes a historical exhibit and a book signing for "History of Etiquette in Black America--A Tribute to the Trailblazers in the Field of Etiquette". This lecture and exhibit is free and open to all ages. Books may be available for purchase as part of the event. No registration required.

  1. Saluting Black Achievements: The Enduring Spirit of the Harlem Renaissance

    February 22, 2020, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ DeSoto Public Library (Youth Area)

    In celebration of Black History Month, the DeSoto Public Library is hosting the 3rd annual “Saluting Black Achievements” program. The theme for 2020 is “The Enduring Spirit of the Harlem Renaissance.” This program will explore the African American cultural revolution of the 1920’s and 1930’s that influenced the entire nation. Activities will include performances, workshops, and hands-on projects featuring music, art, and literature of the Harlem Renaissance. This event is free and open to all ages. No registration required.
