DeSoto City Manager, Tarron Richardson, Ph.D., recently received a letter from Susan Combs, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, announcing that the City of DeSoto has earned the 2014 Platinum Leadership Circle Award for financial transparency.
The Leadership Circle Award recognizes local governments for their efforts in:• opening their books to the public• providing clear, consistent pictures of spending• sharing information in a user-friendly format that lets taxpayers easily drill down for more detail
DeSoto’s award application scored 21 points of 22 possible on the Texas Comptroller’s ratings criteria to earn the award. DeSoto has received the gold level award which recognizes entities that are setting the bar with their transparency efforts yearly since 2010. In 2014, the Platinum Award was added. It spotlights entities who go above and beyond to provide financial transparency.
“DeSoto is honored to be one of the first Platinum Award recipients,” said Edena Atmore, Managing Director of Finance.
