Parking Ordinance

no-parking

In response to issues with trash collection and mail delivery caused by non-residents parking in the neighborhoods near DeSoto High School, the DeSoto City Council adopted Ordinance Number 12.610, titled, “Stopping, Standing and Parking” on May 7, 2019. This ordinance sets forth “resident parking only zones” during designated hours to coincide with official school days for DeSoto Independent School District.

DeSoto Police Chief Joe Costa has designated the following locations as “resident parking only zones" on official school days from the hours of 7 am to 9: 30 am:

  • Brees Drive from Tate Drive to Saddle Head Drive
  • Bridle Drive from Tate Drive to Saddle Head Drive
  • Stain Glass Drive from Tate Drive to Saddle Head Drive
  • Claire View Drive from Tate Drive to Saddle Head Drive and Tate Drive

Residents who live in these areas must obtain a permit to be allowed to park in the “resident parking only zones”. The Code Enforcement Department will issue two permits per residence. Residents may download the free annual application on the City of DeSoto website at www.desototexas.gov or pick one up at the Police Department at 714 E. Belt Line Road. After the application is processed, two parking permits will be issued to the applicant.
