September 14, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ City Council Chambers
The purpose of this Town Hall meeting is to receive public input on the City's 2014-2018 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) which represents the City's five-year plan for infrastructure development. The program covers projects that are more than $100,000 in value and have a life span of more than five years. We hope that citizens will attend this important meeting and let us know what projects they feel are important.
September 14, 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM @ Located in DeSoto Town Center on the corner of Hampton and Pleasant Run Roads.
Directed by Regina Washington Homeschooled is the story of Johnetta Duncan, a homeschool co-op leader lost in grief after the death of her mother. She finds herself quickly losing control of her life and her classroom. A student's simple inquiry as to the meaning of the word "lynch" unearths the cruelty and pain surrounding the tragic history of the lynchings in the American South. Morgan, a frustrated mother, is greatly disturbed by the classroom incident and believes that iw would not have occurred had Johnetta not been so overwhelmed by grief. No longer wishing to look the other way, Morgan questions Johnetta's effectiveness as a teacher and challenges Johnetta "to get hold of her life and let go!"
