Following a nationwide search, the field of candidates for the position of DeSoto Fire Chief has been narrowed to four. On August 25, 2012 from 9 to 10:30 a.m., the public is invited to the City Hall Atrium in the Jim Baugh Government Center located at 211 E. Pleasant Run Road, to meet these candidates. City Management looks forward to receiving public input on the candidates. The Fire Chief is responsible for managing the day to day activities of budgeting and staffing all fire activities in a department with 66 fire positions and four administrative ones. The chief is responsible for Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Emergency Management, and a Fire Training Academy.
